Mapzest v2 is now in your App Store. We’re super excited to launch this new version with it's slick new user interface and enhanced functionality
The results of a full summer of R&D
We’re very excited to launch version 2 of the Mapzest App. The enhancements in this version are the result of a summer of usage with us speaking with app users, both the tourists using Mapzest to discover their destination and businesses using the app to raise awareness, drive footfall and increase spend.
This update is also heavily influenced by our time on the road this summer attending festivals to learn how Mapzest can be further enhanced to better accommodate these types of events. We’ve picked out a few new features for this article, but as always, the best thing to do is try the new version and see for yourself.
The new Discover page acts like a destination notice board
Your location’s helpful information at a glance
The Discover page presents a view of what’s new, what’s on over the next two days, your favourites, listings that have been recently created, listings that have been recently updated, along with various shortcuts and information widgets to give you helpful information at a glance.
The Map page has leveled-up
A faster, smoother and more-alive map for discovery
Most of these changes are subtle, but it delivers a much nicer experience for the user. We’ve added a date selector to see events and offers included on the map. An enhanced filter, new markers, animated markers that flip to reveal a logo and lots of performance enhancing work under the hood.
Line-up, Gant or Schedule view anyone?
Whatever you call it, we’ve added it and it’s great for events and festivals
As well as viewing a list of upcoming events, you can now view events in a ‘Line-up’ style view which shows a timeline across the top, venues and stages down the side and the events scrolling in the middle. This is great for festivals and events, giving the user a full picture of who’s on where and what clashes. Remember, a festival can be created on Mapzest ringfenced to the festival’s vendors, acts and information.
We hope you like the new design and features. We feel this latest version is a huge upgrade to an already powerful tourism and festival solution.
